The WVAM Docent Program was
established to help the Museum
achieve its goals of fostering
an appreciation of art,
enhancing aesthetic judgment,
offering a variety of
interpretive experiences, and
expanding the experiences of all
people who visit our Museum.
Interested? Call the Museum
(623-972-0635) and leave your
name, phone number and e-mail
address, or e-mail
DocentTraining@wvam.org. Docent
Trainer Wally Bock will get in
touch with you and answer any
questions you might have.
An introductory meeting for
prospective docents will be held
10 AM, Thursday, October 30,
2008 at West Valley Art Museum.
At this meeting you will have an
opportunity to meet present
Docents, learn about the focus
of the Museum, and gain an
overview of the Docent Training
Program. You will also have a
chance to ask questions and
acquire a complete understanding
of a Docent’s commitments to the
Museum.
Docent Training Classes meet
every Monday morning, from 9 AM
to noon, beginning November 3,
2008 through March 2, 2009, with
no classes on November 24th,
December 22nd or December 29th,
2008. Docent Trainees are
expected to attend every class,
complete all assignments,
participate fully in every
class, and go on to conduct
interpretive tours of the
Museum’s art on a regular basis,
working with both children and
adults, for at least three
years.
(Note: Trainees must be members
of the Museum. If you are not a
member, please complete an
application form and return it
with your membership check.
There is a Docent Training
Program tuition fee of $50.00 to

class session on November 3rd.
We look forward to meeting and
greeting you at 10:00 AM on
October 30th.
