Docent Porgram

The WVAM Docent Program was established to help the Museum achieve its goals of fostering an appreciation of art, enhancing aesthetic judgment, offering a variety of interpretive experiences, and expanding the experiences of all people who visit our Museum.

Interested? Call the Museum (623-972-0635) and leave your name, phone number and e-mail address, or e-mail DocentTraining@wvam.org. The current Docent President will get in touch with you and answer any questions you might have.
An introductory meeting for prospective docents will be held in the Fall. At this meeting you will have an opportunity to meet present Docents, learn about the focus of the Museum, and gain an overview of the Docent Training Program. You will also have a chance to ask questions and acquire a complete understanding of a Docent’s commitments to the Museum.

Docent Training Classes meet every Monday morning, from 9 AM to noon, beginning in November through March of the following year, with no classes during Holiday weeks. Docent Trainees are expected to attend every class, complete all assignments, participate fully in every class, and go on to conduct interpretive tours of the Museum’s art on a regular basis, working with both children and adults, for at least three years.

(Note: Trainees must be members of the Museum. If you are not a member, please complete an application form and return it with your membership check. There is a Docent Training Program tuition fee of $50.00 to cover materials and supplies. This is payable at the first class session in November.

Corporate Partners

For more than twenty-seven years WVAM has housed some of the region's -- and the world's -- greatest works of art. We have also been a gathering place for the vibrant community that is defined as the West Valley. With our projects we're building on that great tradition, making all of the things you love about the museum even better. WVAM is your museum and we look forward to bringing you new ways to look at, think about and talk about art and our world. Businesses in the area are encouraged to participate as "Corporate Partners" by either signing up as Business Members or offering to sponsor exhibitions. Sponsorship of an exhibit puts the name of a business in the title of the exhibition in the galleries and goes out with all advertising and press releases. It is an opportunity for community service and leadership on the part of Valley entrepeneurs.

Of course a Museum is not possible without the help of all donors corporate and private. Your support will help bring this vision to reality, resulting in a museum that will be a source of pride for our children and grandchildren. Please contact our Membership Director to learn about the various ways you can help us build on our great traditions.

The West Valley can seem a bit quiet in the summer months, but there’s still enough happening around the museum to keep you busy! Click here to learn about our summer activities.

Matching Gifts

West Valley Art Museum Matching Gift Program has partnered with local, national and companies worldwide to make certain that we get the most out of your donation. Thousands of employers across the United States match their employee’s annual gifts to art and cultural institutions. Does yours?

The best part about the program is that no matter the size of the donation it counts! The Matching Gift Program turns $1 into $2, $100 into $200, and in some cases more. Your employer’s involvement in conjunction with your support allows your contribution to double or even triple its initial impact.

Maximize your IMPACT!

Ask your employer to see if your company has a matching gifts program.

Donate Art to WVAM

Generous donations of art constitute an important part of our collection, and West Valley Art Museum always welcomes these gifts. If you would like to donate during your lifetime or bequeath a work of art to the museum, please contact us for suggested language. Because of the unique nature of gifts of art, we request that you contact us to arrange for a WVAM curator to discuss your art and your wishes.

Please call for a curator at 623.972.0635 for details.

Giving in Honor of Another

Many donors find they can honor a family member or friend and at the same time help WVAM. A contribution can be made in honor of a birthday, graduation, wedding, anniversary, or any special occasion. A memorial gift can honor the memory of someone who enjoyed the museum.

Please call 623.972.0635 for information on making an honorarium or memorial.

Foundation Support

Foundation support from generous contributors has been a significant source of stability for WVAM. This support and commitment to our community will help guarantee the vitality of our world-class institution for decades to come. Foundation gifts improve the quality of life for museum-goers, their families and our society as a whole. As valued supporters of WVAM, foundations fulfill their mission to the community by helping us provide opportunities for enjoyment and education that are matched by only a handful of other institutions in the nation.
